yes i think snakes may pose as terrifieing animals for some people but this man needs this to be changed, i think that this law should indeed let snakes be service animals not all snakes will bite, this man trusts his snake with his life i dont think it will bite anyone it would change his life for the better.

Any trained animal should be allowed as a service animal. When a society starts allowing or disallowing such things based on cultural bias, then it shows it's own bigotry. Besides, what about the people _allergic_ to the usual service animal (dogs)? Are they supposed to do without? How backward!
If restaurants, stores, etc., are 'nervous' about the types of animals used for service assistance, then I'm sure it would be relatively easy to document and license such trained behaviour _and_ the need. Yes, a fee would probably be involved. Yes, it can be kept affordable.

No I dont think a snake should be a service animal as it is not a animal its a snake. Some people have been killed by there snakes. You cannot put a muzzle, halter and leash on a snake as you would a dog. It could cause a person with a bad heart to have a heart attact.
Also service dogs are certified and well trained. Why cant a well trained service dog do the same for him? Did the doctor give him a prescription to have a snake for a service animal? Dogs have been proven to be able to sense medical problems and then alert others so they can help. How could a snake or a rodent alert anyone? Can they be house broken? NO! That leads to an unsnanitary condition.
A service animal should be able to sense a problem then be able to summon help and not be a health hazard to others. b8 jwyr

Absolutly!! If this snake is going to help him and he has trained his snake to do what he needs so that he can be safe there is not one excuse someone can make. Also, he could tell people how to train theirs as he did his. Not all snakes are bad and depending on how people own and handle their snakes decifers whether it is or is not an unsanitary condition. Think about it, if this was you in this condition and this snake was what made you safe and feel at peace all the time... would you like them to be allowed? I know i would.
Bottom line, yes, I do believe snakes should be allowed as service animals.

The no comment is funny .. snakes shouldn't be service animals because they have killed people. Dogs have killed people too.
All the points the no person makes are laughable .. sorry.
all animals should potentially be able to be service animals and we shouldn't let cultural differences be in between that.

no i dont agree with a snake as a service animal what dose this man have against service dogs ? what is he going to train every snake a person wants as a service animal i hardly think so . a dog can get shots and trained to be safe in public . as far as costs he can get a service dog threw one place free and you train with your animal .some people may want to get a boa constricter ther are several cases where thease snakes have eaten humans and other animals and ect. also a snake is a reptile not a service animal so how can it be said to be a service ANIMAL?????
I think snakes are okay to be service animals. But not the dangerous ones.

Someone has to say it: Can he bring it on a mother-chuckin' plane? You *can* bring service dogs.
Service animals not only have to prove their benefit to the user, but also their safety to the rest of us. Service animals are extremely well trained and can control bladder & bowel activities so that they can go into grocery stores, etc where food safety is a primary concern- Can this snake do that?
How did he demonstrate the medical benefit to him from having the snake? He says the snake can alert him to a pending seizure but what evidence was offered? Unless and until he can demonstrate that it's a need, not a want, I say no-go.
. . . and keep 'em off the planes!!

The ADA defines a service animal as any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. If they meet this definition, animals are considered service animals under the ADA regardless of whether they have been licensed or certified by a state or local government.
Service animals perform some of the functions and tasks that the individual with a disability cannot perform for him or herself. "Seeing eye dogs" are one type of service animal, used by some individuals who are blind. This is the type of service animal with which most people are familiar. But there are service animals that assist persons with other kinds of disabilities in their day-to-day activities.
Some, but not all, service animals wear special collars and harnesses. Some, but not all, are licensed or certified and have identification papers. If you are not certain that an animal is a service animal, you may ask the person who has the animal if it is a service animal required because of a disability. However, an individual who is going to a restaurant or theater is not likely to be carrying documentation of his or her medical condition or disability. Therefore, such documentation generally may not be required as a condition for providing service to an individual accompanied by a service animal. Although a number of states have programs to certify service animals, you may not insist on proof of state certification before permitting the service animal to accompany the person with a disability.

They can be possibly considered service animals if they provide a service to their owner...maybe like if they were allergic to rats or something
I dont know what else they can do..

Ok I see that here many see that the Boa is doing a job and I will train those who need a Snake for Seizures IF they prove they are able to control the snake 100% to the best of there ability.
I would set a company (NON Profit)to train the people how to deal with not only the snake but how to care for it and maintain it.
What none of the skeptic read is the fact the snake has proven itself and for those who worry about eating in Denny's and seeing my snake I have no plans to take it to such places for public relations and happiness.
I also am in the process to get a Special carrier to be with me all times when the snake is with me in case of emergencies to keep it safe and allow the medics access to me in case.
For the parties who think ALL snake eat people please tell me where you get your info?
Anaconda? OK Movies are a good place to get credited info....
