Did President Obama's speech change how you feel about health care reform?

Never. It's a good plan but it won't work.

my prediction is... boehner is going to say something stupid afterwards.

Frank Jurk said:

How do I feel about it? Well, I'm thinking about moving to North Korea. It looks like he's going to tax all of us - hardworking middle class people - to death to pay for the health care for every lazy @SS bum who's never had a job in their lives. You don't think so? Just wait and see.

Bye-bye, Captitalism! Hello, Socialism! Hello to you, too, Communism!

I am a 79 year old woman who saw something tonight that is totally outside the pale and that I never saw in a presidential speech before. Mr. Obama lied....not once but several times.
The level of statesmanship is so low that it is amazing. People in congress now that have power have gone completely berserk with it and they frighten me. On the one hand he says the time for bickering is over, then he proceeds to accuse anyone who has ideas that don't agree with his as trouble mongers. I think when he opens his mouth, he sees magic coming out and he has begun to believe himself to the point I am beginning to think he is mentally unstable. At the least, he is sophomoric and works in a group that has a teen age snob class mentality.

wow only 4 obama haters commenting. maybe the rest of them are realizing its getting harder and harder to support death panel lies and the such. even mccain didnt like wilsons (lie) outburst. i saw on politico, that republican doctor that commented after the speech had been sued 3 times for mal practice. lol..someone commented that they hadnt seen anything like it since that jindal speech. maybe it was a toss up between palin and the mal practice doctor. the party of no looked real bad when everyone else rose in support throughout the speech.

Charlie said:

President Obama's speech has made me believe in him much stronger. He's right. There isn't any more time for bickering. The health care improvement for every U.S. Citizen is a very serious issue. Although President Obama said Republicans and Democrats agree on some elements of his proposals, I seriously doubt Republicans will go with it.

Bruce Lee said:

I think all the Republicans should shut the hell up. I mean what have they done during the last eight years besides making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Even the middle class are bankrupt, thanks to them for everything from subprime mortgage crisis to the recession. And all the U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in the avoidable and unnecessary war in Iraq plus? President Obama is right. No more bickering! It's time for you Republicans stop acting like a child and take a responsiblity like a man! Then, the government will be FOR THE PEOPLE ONCE AGAIN!

Rick Strack said:

AS Adrian Rogers once said,
“You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from someone else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”
I personally am getting real tired of giving away my hard earned prosperity to those who don't work for it or deserve it.

I'm glad to see someone stand up and speak the truth about the lies told to American's from our failed goverment system. Way to go senator from South Carolina!!!!!!!

Randy Mcdonald said:

Obama did't lie about giving health coverage to illegals, because he said himself he is going to make them all legal next year and give it to them anyway! All we need in this Country is Goverment Reform to stop all the crimes against the people to stay in control of our capital!!

Rich Guy Not Wealthy said:

Whenever some idiots at a supermarket ask me for donation, I tell them confidently, "I'm doing my own charity work. I PAY TAX!"

I wasn't exactly born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I got rich because I've worked my b$%% off at my store for the last two decades. (1980-2000)

But I've always felt annoyed to see lazy bums making a easy living (miserable but easy living) off our hard-earned tax dollars. And they don't stay out of trouble either.

Adam Smith said:

Rich Guy - I agree w/ your comment. Just like there are hardworking students who study hard, but, on the other hand, there're others who come to school just to play, bully, chase the skirts, or all of the above. Now, supposedly, if they all get same grade and go to same college, it wouldn't be fair for those who'd worked hard, would it? The same rule can be applied to the society. There're hard workers who work not only hard but also smart, but, on the other hand, there're also lazy and stupid ones. The key question I want to ask the slackers on tax payers dime is "Do you deserve it?"

Harold Olsen said:

Obama couldn't convince me that we get a lot of rain here in Seattle. He's nothing but a lying SOB.

DK said:

No, because things will not get better or affordable until the Health Care System it self changes I make a $11.00 an hour, the Doctor I had to see for my condition charges $300.00 for 10-15 minutes for an office call. The test, well, I could loose my house. Next time, I am just going to prepay for my cremation. If I have to loose my home and way of life which is poor but happy than I would rather die anyway. That should make Big Brother happy because that one take payer they don't have to worry about. As for Government control, I say wecome the the USSA,
United Socialist State of America.

Mr D said:

I am sorry that I did not hear the senator yell "LIE" when Obama answered whether illegals would get health care because I was yelling busy B--- S--- at the top of my lungs. I heard nothing new last night. You can take horse crap, dip it in chocolate and serve it. But it is still horse crap. Americans do not want this, in any way shape or form as curently proposed. This president has established what he is by his own words from his campaign. He said, how can you know me? You can know me by the people who surround me and I associate with. Yup. Totally true. Just look at the czars that he has by passed the constitution and appointed to places of leadership and authority, starting with the avowed communist that resigned last weekend. And let’s not forget his soft spot and affiliation with ACORN. I would be so proud to support an organization that teaches people how to defraud the system to obtain funding in order to start a whore house. Wait, this might be in line, since the hard working taxpaying citizens of this great nation are being screwed.

Josh Smith said:

We're in a sad state when you can't question the president. Joe Wilson was Right!!!
Early last month, the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee defeated an amendment which would have excluded illegal aliens from Obama’s totalitarian health care bill. The Democrat-dominated committee voted 23-18 to defeat the measure introduced by Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV), which would have required the use of the existing Income and Eligibility Verification System and the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements System before care is dispensed.

In other words, there would be no way to verify the citizenship of those seeking care under Obama’s government plan.

Everyone is yelling Capitalism, Socialism, Communism. But lets look at it. We own 60% of GM, 40% of Citi bank, and were about to take over the health care racket (yes it is another type business and yes Obama's plan will have us putting the competition out of business). This is Fascism decorated as socialism to get the taxpayers to foot the bill.

Cheryl Smith said:

Wow. The President's speech brought out the ire in a lot of people. It has also shown how deep the scar of fear runs through America and, how many share an indifference towards the value of human life. Those deemed "Lazy bums", "idiots", "stupid", and "slackers", should be left to suffer (and so to their children) because of their inability to contribute to society. Is that what happened to those in the USSR who could not contribute?

Mr and Mrs Smith said:

Those lazy bums, idiots, the stupid, and slackers will work extremely hard in North Korea for a bowl of corns. Their laziness is in fact the by-product of capitalism.

Oboma's health care plan is not to benefit the American people but for his own egotistical ego.
He is dangerous, leading America down a one way street of no return to socialism.
Poloski wants new planes to taxi around the idiots of Washington. Lets give them a rocket instead; Tie Oboma to one side of the nose cone & Polaski to the other, fill the rocket with ,Oboma's czars,r Washington loonies runing our government that agree with him, including his czars, fill with lawyers, judges, pedophiles that are killing our children . Send them on with a one way ticket to Mars.
America only change that we need is to get our country back to what it originated from,"One Nation under God,Governed by the people & for the people."I say oust him

If only our government still echoed and emulated Thomas Jefferson.....here's just a few of his words, which when compared to what our current government is doing, makes one shiver. Thomas Jefferson had it right....."A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government." And how about: "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Let's not forget this one, either....."I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." Oh how well that last quote fits this day!!! I'll leave you with something Thomas Paine said as well....."Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigue of supporting it." Let us ALL step up to the plate and be heard...and keep the tyranny of socialism from overtaking us!

I rather have socialism than corporatism. At least with socialism, you have some control. Corporatism you have none. You are at the mercy of the greedy CEO with the just trust us attitude. You have seen what happens with recent Wall Street melt down that was built on the just trust us theme.
There are many conservative that like to blame the unions for current problem. When we had unions as I remember everyone had good paying jobs, could buy a home, put food on the table, and have health care. What I see now after this trickledown economics has ran its course is people do not have jobs, do not have money, the country in debt up to its ears, and people cannot afford health care. Tell me what better corporate greed or unions.

You are one sick misguided individual. You say you would rather have socialism than corporatism. If so tell me why Cubans keep trying to come to this country, floating across the water in 1955 Chevrolets on pontoons? Tell me why they had to build the Berlin wall between East and West Germany? Tell me why time after time, during Olympic games, individuals from socialist countries asked for political asylum in this country? You want socialism in this country. Do you want the government to nationalize all production of goods and services? This would certainly simplify things. You go to the grocery store, and if you could get it, there would be only one kind of bread, pickles, peanut butter or salad dressing. There would be no ice cream because the government health czar says that it makes you fat which is unhealthy. There would be no soda pop because the health czar says soda is unhealthy. Buying an automobile, if you could afford one would be simple. One government mandated model, in your choice of three earth friendly colors and no option choices. The unions may not be the cause of our current problem but they certainly have contributed. Have jobs and production out sourced to other countries been because of corporate greed or just trying to compete with flood of cheaper goods and services from foreign countries? You talk about a time when everyone had union jobs and money. There are still unions. There still is employment. Even at 10% unemployment, 90% of the people in this country are employed. Finally, you asked what is better, corporate greed or unions. The last time I checked, most unions were in corporations. Small unincorporated business cannot afford unions. Also, you need to go back to school and learn just what a corporation is made up of and how it works. It is owned not by the CEO or even the board of directors. It is owned by people all across this country in the form of stock holder shares. Are all corporate executives free from corruption? NO! But just as there is in anything, there are those who will try to get just as much as they can. So before you castigate corporations and CEO’s as all greedy, determine who elects the board of directors and CEO’s. It is the stock holders. You want to live in a socialist country? I say please do so, but just don’t make it my countr

DAB, You are delusional! All you rocket scientists who think we DON'T live in a socialist country now should call Medicare, social security administration, and the unemployment office and tell them thanks, but no thanks. I don't need your help, or your money, I'm an American. These stupid as hell teabaggers don't have the grey matter to understand that they are protesting against themselves. It is simply astounding. They are robots spouting the mantras of Beck, Limpbaugh and their ilk. It is fascinating!

I am so sorry for your misguided ideas. I and all of the rest of Americans pay into social security, and Medicare, and thousands pay into unemployment insurance. I have paid Medicare premiums ever since it was initiated. I have paid into social security for over 50 years. And in 5 months and 26 days I am going to get my first social security check, and I will take it without an ounce of regret. I paid into it and I deserve it. IT IS NOT SOCIALISM!!! And when I get Medicare, same thing, I paid into it and I deserve it. IT IS NOT SOCIALISM!!! Employers pay into unemployment. When needed, IT IS NOT SOCIALISM. If the senators and congressmen both Republican and Democrat under both Rep. and Demo. Administrations had not raped and pillaged the fund, there would be more than enough monies available to fund social security and Medicare. If this money paid into the fund over the years had been invested, or even just put into a separate fund, there would not be a funding crisis. Finally, those who oppose the president's policies are concerned citizens and not just mindless robots. I do not care whether he is red, white brown or yellow, makes no difference. I just do not like his policies. His race or religion has nothing to do with this. And regarding Jimmy Carter, he is not only going to go down in history as the worst president we have ever had but as the worst former president. HE IS TOTALLY OFF HIS MARK WHEN HE SAYS THAT OPOSITION TO PRESIDENT OBAMBA IS RACIAL. If the democrats want to make opposition to his policies a race issue, we are in a sorry state of affairs.
