Great idea. The guy who drove affordable health insurance out of the state, drove Boeing to move away, and almost forced Microsoft to move to Canada? Sure, put him in charge of Commerce. It was Gary Locke who inspired the joke that the Washington State Legislature should rename itself the Idaho Economic Development Council. While we are at it, perhaps we can make Blagojevich the Attorney General. This alone will help ensure Democrats' vision of turning America into a Third World kleptocracy.

Picking Gary Locke as Commerce Secretary will help his America-hating agenda right along. Locke was one of the worst tax and spend governors (Gregoire is beating him on that, though) we ever had. He couldn't spend our money fast enough on programs that he knew would not work. So, he's a perfect choice for the Obama administration.

What we do know is that young people, young families, and professionals are grudgingly leaving the area in droves. Because they have to. These are the demographics that indicate the health of a given region. like it or not.
Meanwhile the exact same problems from a decade ago plague Seattle. The same potholes, the same busted bridges, the same pollution issues, not to mention the hyper-inflated real estate of King County is now taking its toll as it falls back to reality. (yeah, I know its a national issue but why so bad in KC??)
A rational (being the operative word) person can see that this goes beyond what party one wants to fling spittle defending; but rather it would be a terrible decision based on results. In Locke's case the lack of such. Obama promoted "change." Locke is not of that make. Surely in such a diverse nation there is an alternative?
