An Oregon Mother is outraged over a book at her son's school that shows bunnies commiting suicide. Do you think the book is appropriate for students?

How old are the kids? Are they students at college who are old enough to go to war and kill other human beings?
C'mon NWCN .. you gotta do better with your blog posts here. Next topic please ...

The Book is totally inappropriate (especially for a 13 year old)and should be banned from all schools. Why would we want to encourage our kids to read books on ways to kill yourself.???
I would be very angry if my child came home with this book

I feel that anyone that believes this book should be banned is giving the children that read the book no credit for being intelligent and independent thinkers. Everyone in the High School Age range can see this book for what it is, silly. I have an 8 year old son, and I feel that at that age he would be able to see this book for what it is. Parents need to allow their kids to express themselves and have thorough conversations about these topics.

Have you looked at the book before commenting or are you just running blind and running your mouth??? Ingrid, seriously, you are a cliche these days with an attitude like that..."Ooohhh, won't somebody think of the children!" I own the book and the ironic thing is it was a gift to me from a 14 year old student at the school where I work. Just look at the book - nobody is going to kill themselves over it. (ignorance IS bliss)

If someone is going to kill themselves after reading, no wait there are hardly any words, veiwing this CARTOON, then there are WAAAYYY deeper issues at hand than lil bunny foo foo's illustrated antics. Reminds me of something, oh yes, Looney Tunes, ah great times...
I have viewed this book several times. My son, a college student, gave it to me as a present. The different cartoons are hilarious. However, I do agree with Ingrid on one point. What is this type of book doing in a school library? Why are our tax dollars being used to purchase this type of material? Otherwise, instead of banning a book from others, Ingrid should take parental responsibility and explain to her 13 year old son why she doesn't want him to read/view this type of book.

No, I don't think this is appropriate for children. As far as I know, only lemmings actually make a real attempt at suicide.

Brett please read my post again...I did not suggest to ban the book.....I was being sarcastic sorry if it was not clear. My question was how can we even use that phrase and have there be any kind of debate....This is America we do not ban books it flys in the face of everything we are as a country...So before you call me out and call me names maybe you should read my entire post not just the first four or five words.....Small view apparently yours is so small you cant even see an entire post?

I think too many people are taking books too literally...like the bible, for instance. People watch violence all the time in the form of cartoons. and you can rent violence themed cartoons at the library.

It's just a silly (slightly demented) book. Guess what?! There is a calendar available too. Banning a book because you don't agree with it is foolishness. I don't know if I like my tax dollars being spent for this one, but I am sure there are books I like (that my kids have liked) that someone else would be horrified about. (Harry Potter anyone? How about the Holy Bible or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer?). There are better ways to spent our time than fussing over these bunnies.

OK it is am bit much for the younger kids, but what age group are we talking about there is no excuse to ban books anywhere in this country, some common sence should be exersised and if this is the worst thing that high schoolers look at i will call that a good day.

Good grief! Is there no relief from this BS anywhere? Leave the minds of our kids alone.

Totally fine with her not wanted her kid to read whatever she things appropriate. This is the land of the free, after all.
Totally wrong with her forcing her appropriateness unto others. This is the land of the free, after all.
