It was Bush who actually got us in this mess. I suggest reading through these speach notes from 2002 where he encourages subprime lending:
The lenders went pretty much nuts after he said this and with no regulation or oversight it was the beginning of the end.

Contrary to the biased view above Congress actually implemented reduced lending restrictions in the late 90's combined with reduced reporting requirements for lending institutions.

I think instead of bailing out all these companies, the government should give that money to all americans 18 and older. We then pay taxes on that in which the government gets their share and we can pay off our mortgages and bills which inturn pays all other creditors and we also have money to stimulate the economy. Sounds weird but good to me.

What a joke. Bush/Cheney/GOP politics have nearly ruined this country, now they see the results of their failed policies, and we are the victims! The brave American Tax-Payers. How anyone could possibly even consider for one moment of voting for McSame/Phalin needs a complete and thorough psychiatric evaluation asap!!
If the GOP truly loves this country they will join us in voting for Obama/Biden in 4+ weeks. There is NO other way.
Impeach Bush!!

Watching his speech made me sick to my stomach. The bleak picture he painted is exactly the same type of fear spreading he has done in the past over the Iraq debacle. His poor governance over the past eight years is the reason that we find ourselves in this mess in the first place. Why the “act now or we’re doomed” message? As president you should foresee things of this nature and act before it comes to a head. He is a disgrace to our country and the human race. Remember when you cast your vote - he is a Republican. Four more years of this type of politics will surely ruin our nation.

boy didnt mcbozo just make an ass of himself. this sort of kneejerk is exactly what got us into this war its why mccain nearly died in his first plane crash because he was too busy partying and didnt study on how to pull the eject. cancell everything then run off to washington to do what? he couldnt attend the meeting so what is he going to do?
he keeps saying he invited obama to fly around with him to do speaking, so does obama look like a hitch hiker? if you were running for office would you travle around with your opponent on his campaign? now he invites obama to washington. what a schmuck!! he keeps putting himself in charge when he isnt.
King George has trashed the U.S. both economically and in world standing. The Bank collapse isn't totally his fault alone though, he did attempt to do something back in 2003 and 2005. Barny Frank and Dodd killed the attempt to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, so this latest fiasco has plenty of blame to go around.
But bottom line is the U.S. is crashing, something needed to be done decades ago. My only hope is people will stop playing the party B.S., recognize everyone is to blame for this mess and let's set things right!

I support giving 'bail out' money to the American people instead of these banks and businesses that have been irresponsible and then expect the government to bail them out.
The fiasco with the sub prime loans and the end result is one of the best examples of how big business is in the business of GREED and could care less what happens after they get their money.
Stop this cycle and get back to government FOR the people!

I believe instead of bailing out these companies directly bail out the people, so they can pay off their debts which in turn will bail out the companies, stimulate the economy etc. etc. etc. I know if I was sent some bail out money I would pay off every account I have that has a balance.

I am so embarrassed that fool is the leader of this country. He has no ideas, he has had none, and neither will his hand picked successor, John McSame. The GOP have ruined this once great country with their corporate greed and their manipulation of the masses, especially of the lowly educated hard core Christians, who think his he George Almighty. Take our advice GOP, stay out of this election, you have screwed up America enough.
