Its obvious that the President orchestrated the current oil industry profits early on in his first term, and is further using the gas pump as a tool to get his off-shore drilling buddies some money. If not there, then its the Arctic National Refuge. Even though these places will not help the gas pump prices any. They will help oil industry profits though! Nancy Pelosi can take my tax refund and use it to take a bus back to SF. On July 20, rather than approve proposed legislation for oil drilling Pelosi threatened to "pack-up and go home". Well, go home already. Drilling for more of our own (and Canadian)oil would at least begin a process that would lessen our dependence on foreign oil and it would begin to drive down prices. Rather than proposing to do something, Pelosi wants to write more checks and send back some more of our own money? We sent the money to her to pay her to do something, not to return it to sender! Yes, I think it would be a good idea to give us another check to help out with the rising gas prices and food. That's right; $0, because if you make over some amount, you don't get the check at all. My gas costs have gone up like everyone else's. My grocery costs have gone up like everyone else's. My paycheck has gone down like many people's. My bank account hits zero at the end of every month. I have to think carefully about every purchase I make. But I don't get a stimulus check. Sure why not and while the government is offshore borrowing money they dont have why not give back all the houses (foreclosures) to the people who cant pay for them TOO??!!

FIRST we had to borrow the money for the first round of (STIMULUS??) checks from off shore and will be paying for this money for years to come.

yes because as a young single mom with no job and not being able to get any benefits is hard because now of days its not easy to find a job with the economy and the single restraining order on your record that is holding you back as for me i am a single mother that is 20 years of age with an associates degree in criminal justice and not never having a background record but a restraining order against me is hurting me very bad with finding a job that's going to help me take care of me and my baby so i think if they do decide to give us another stimulus check it probably can help me more.

The first check was too small to really do anything with - how about another one? The government thinks nothing of having us pay through the nose for taxes ($10,000 is what we had to cough up this April) but balks at giving us a fair shake. Give us enough to do something with! I'd love to spend and increase the economic standing, but I need something to work with! The last one went to pay bills! How about at least $2,000 per person for starters?

I read all of the other comments, but what people are failing to realize is that the government wants to spend 700 billion dollars of tax payers (YOUR) money to bail out these major financial institutions and CEO's who want no consequences for their actions. According to 60 minutes, emails were traded about the forseeable financial implosion amongst Wallstreet's major traders. Who in this country wants to give more money to see that these CEO's who could care less about the little man, or woman, or family, to ensure their continued business success contrived from your financial failure??? I assure you the answer is no one. So, I propose that the 700 billion go to the Americans. It was said that 700 billion breaks down to about $10,000 in taxes per american household. It is a fact that each American is around or over $5,000 of personal debt! What if this $10,000 stimulus were given to the American public? We would get out of debt, which holds many in the dark, and be able to thrive as a Nation. We would pay off our debts and go back to being able to spend, which would trickle upward. Instead of letting the money trickle down, why don't we start by building the average household up? Instead of paying off CEO's with YOUR money, why don't they give us OUR money, so that we can be thriving instead of just surviving?

I think getting a second stimulus chek would be a good idea. With one stipulaton make it out to be like a credit card in which you can only use it to help the economy. Such as at the gas pump or for groceries or medical reasons. The whole reason why we even got a check was to help our economy but lets face we didnt really do that. People used the money on things that they shouldnt of. It doesnt mean eating out or buy new or upgraded things. The checks werent that big but lets face it no one had any problems spending it, every bit helps. With mine it went toward taxes that I didnt expect to be so high. Last year my taxes cost me 900 for scholl and property my in laws pay half as we share property it is not yet subdivided as I cant get a loan because of no credit. This year it was 1800 a peice. Taxes are outrageous everywhere when will it end. I work two jobs to pay my bills and just keep my head above water. The government needs to do something about the state of our econmy with out makeing it more expensive for us. They make more money than we do but look at how they spend it. PASS THE LAW!! Most people in this world like me, don't have it made with money coming in my life like some "high class" people. It's hard to find jobs to provide for myself and I'm doing the best that I could at 21, go to school, trying to get certified for Medical Billing, have my D Lic. and have part time job and its not enough. I'm preg. and soon I will be on bed rest while my babysfather is dead and I have no family so what can I do?

Certainly I'm in favor of it. I'm on a fixed income, been unemployed over a year, can't find a job....and why not give the average taxpayers a boost...if we can bail out big business...why not give the taxpayers some help. What they should do is give every one a stilus check and erase all the mistakes on our credit reports for the past few years so every one in america can get the money the need the help they need cuz if your car breaks and you cant get a loan because of a few payments you misssed in the past few years when life has been going in the trash you cant get to work or at least not on time life bites if some one gave me a loan or a stimuls check for 5,000 I could pay off all the bills that are messing with my credit and no i dont own a single credit card so my bills are real not makeup and purses just life.

just a comment on the stimulus checks.
we did not qualify for the stimulus check. one good year of income. which we invested and lost money. early this year I lost my job and my husband has taken significant decreases due to competition and the economy. we more than qualify for the stimulus check but we will not see one. so our life style will dimish and spending for us is at a standstill. no help for the people presently suffering?

I am a single mother of 2 who has just lost her job of 10 years due to foreign trade. Even while I was working, I could not afford to buy a car- let alone keep putting gas into it. It was a tossup-either keep a roof over our heads or have transportation. I chose the former. Anyway, now I bring in $200 a week in unemployment and have to make that stretch. My rent itself is over $500 plus utilities a month. Anyway, though I don't have any credit card debt, I agree with Audrey. If everyone got a "free pass" on their credit card debts, people would be able to start buying things again and money would be deposited back into the economy.

Though I have no credit card debt myself, I agree with Audrey. Everyone should get a "free pass" on their credit card debt and have their slates wiped clean. Then people will be spending more money and depositing it back into the economy instead of paying off past debts.

We need another stimulus check really soon. I have been laid off for 10 months from a goverment position. I am also 56 years old. Can't get Medicaid, SSI or anything. I have no health insurance, my car is a 12 year old Subaru Impreza on its last breath. I have good skills but no company is hiring, especially someone who is 56.

Yes they should go ahead with the 2nd stimulas check because it would help out with the holidays. I got laid off from my full-time job an found a part-time job that i work for two hours five days a week that pays some of the bills but i have two boys an one due in december an right now things are so hard that i may not be able to give them a christmas this year.

Sorry to hear of all the job losses its very sad to hear and I hope everyone holds there heads up it can hopefully only get better,it for sure can't get any worse. I also would like to say something on Clinton he is the one that started all this domino effect of job losses in the U.S. now there are no more jobs left because of him, and as our President now Mr. Bush he started a war that shouldn't have never been started, don't get me wrong i support our troops, god love them and bring them all home safe. If you ask me the people of this country should be in charge we know what we need and are hard workers and work hard for our money unlike our government and all the leisure time and vacations they take on our hard working $$. I have read every comment here and I think everything should start at home. The government sends too much $ out of our country...who said we have to take care of the world? No one is taking care of us! The way our government is run is a shame, they spend millions/billions/trillions on studies that make no sense...who cares about the sex life of an animal...really!! No one is getting the fact the "President" is just a face for the country...what real power does he/she possess? Our money is being squandered by people who do not struggle to make ends meet...they are fat and rich so why do they care. Anyone who works for the government should make what we, the average working American, makes and maybe things would turn around for this country. I am not going to sit here and whine about my situation...I am the working poor...I am just glad I am working...now for less due to the wage decrease...but I am still working. This second stimulus check would do wonders if they would do it right. The checks should not be across the board...what I got last time as many of you agree was a joke...what a married co-worker got with 2 kids made me sick...they live comfortable...and they received 4 times what I got...I am a single mother of 2 with the dead beat dad, I did not use my check to go on vacation...I used my check to feed my kids and pay my over due bills...my kids don't know what a vacation is and with they way things are going they probably never will. The amount you receive should be adjusted to your income and how many children you have. The cut off level should not be $100,000.00 if you make that much and can't make ends meet then shame on you...that is your fault. AMERICAN kids are homeless, hungry, sick and without a good education...take care of your own...it is not my fault people were born in 3rd world countries and live under a government that can't help them selves...no one gave us AMERICANS help to make this country what it is. You can't possibly take care of someone else if you don't take care of your self. My children do not receive aid to feed them, to keep them healthy and a roof over their head...I provide that for them, but every day that is getting harder. The government should not make it easy for the illegal immigrants who are here or who come here. If you want to be in America you must live by the rules we all live by. No one gave special treatment to all those who came through Ellis Island…they were brought in and MADE citizens and off they went to make it on their own with what they came here with. No one gave them a break and that is how this country became GREAT…those people made this country what it is on hard work, blood, sweat and tears. Also, the government should not bail out the banks...no one bails me out for making a wrong decision. The government should bail out the struggling, the ones teetering or the ones who have already have fallen off...help them get back on their feet so they can help themselves. i hope they give out a check before christmas we need it because the state of south carolina is the lowest pay rate state i believe they're is people are having to work two to three jobs in order to make ends meet and for some that still is not enough they need to do something before the first of december so that some of can have a peace of mind because if not as somelse has said alot of children will have a bad christmas and alot of mother and fathers will be in jail for christmas and not with they're children so please do somthing soon time is running out for some of us things are not looking good at this time.

There is one problem, and its people dont want to give up there money. No not the rich people money is obviously there drive and why would they willingly lose that.You take the money from the coopreations then what happens. Yeah well why would they want to invest participate buy and trade when the more money they get the more they lose. Slowly goods will dicapate and the rich will be the poor, then those who got thes TAX CUTS will be the rich ones getting all thier money taken away.

Another stimulous check we be so good right now.With all of the local factories laying people off or shutting down people are really starting to suffer.I know a few people that can`t even afford to send money for school lunches.Fortunatly the schools policy will not allow kids to go without.They give them a peanut butter sandwich and milk.It doesn`t sound like much but it is at least food in their stomachs.I think a stimulous check would really boost the economy,especially this close to the holidays.I don`t know about everyone else but we spent every dime of our last check paying off bills.
Hopefully President Bush can get this done soon.Until then we will just continue to pray that God provides us with what we need to survive.

Ya another check would be great especially just before christmas but the last one was so messed up they may not get this one right, telling you certain amount you're gonna get and then it doesn't happen or WHEN you're gonna get it and poof its weeks later...besides on the first one they did recoup a lot no doubt with the raise in gas prices, food, and other things!!!So they wanna give us money lets not complain.
