Safeco insurance sells Teensurance to parents, including a GPS tracker. Do you think devices that track teen drivers are a good thing? Are they good safety tools or an invasion of privacy?

Until a teenager is 18, he or she is the direct responsibility of the parent. Driving before your a legal adult should be viewed as a privilege rather than a right. A parents right to protect there child supersedes a minor's right to privacy in this matter.

This is a great idea maybe if all teens had this in there car then they would remember what they learned in driving school. Sure there are some good teen drivers but threr are alot of bad one's who race get in accidents and die or kill someone. So if the parents could keep a watch over them maybe they would drive better.

I am for the idea of a 'monitor device' for teen drivers. There are many teens out there that are good safe drivers. But they suffer the 'image of bad drivers'. I/we have in our imediate neighborhood many teen drivers. The 'bad' drivers are constantly being reported to our local Police.
Since the law states that they, the police, have to see the infraction, their hands are tied. Hence, our problem gets worse.
Not only the monitoring device, I wish the law would implement more to see that the law is adhered to. Perhaps, that every complaint is handled with direct contact with the parents of 'teens' till they are 18 years old.
I just hope and pray that there aren't more innocent people killed till we can put in place a more stringent plan to monitor .new drivers.

Anyone driving a newer model car is 'monitored'.Cars come with (and have for awile)a 'Black Box' which records how fast, seatbelt use, etc. directly before any accident you're in. It is available to law enforcement and can be subpoened in tne event of litigation. In a time of increasing 'monitoring' I wonder whats next? We tend not to trust each other and it seem's 'Big Daddy' is all too willing to legislate on behalf of our safety. Mandatory seatbelts, child restraint devices, hands on cell phone prohibition's, are just the latest laws in an attempt to 'Protect' the citizensip. Maybe we'll ALL have Web Cams in our dashboards. Don't forget past lesson's-Freedom is not Free.
