My boyfriend and I are going to pay off a credit card and one other larger bill with our checks, then we will take the little bit left over on ourselves maybe a weekend out or just an evening and oh maybe we will fill our gas tanks instead of a night out.

Great, I can now afford to fill my gas tank. Thank god the Bush administration put a stimulus package in place to support big oil. My money is going to pay bills and save the rest, the recession is here.

Economic stimulus is a great idea but with the Recession in full force it would be foolish to spend money on unnecessary purchases...I will use my rebate check to fill my gas tank then save the rest for upcoming expenses.

well when bush took office gas was about a buck 30 and now its about $3.50 so i average about 1000 gallons a year so my annual gas cost has gone up about $2200 minus the stimulus = i am still behind $1600.00
this is like when bush sent the surge troops to iraq and they we are supposed to feel better when some of them come home?
this administration is so out of touch with reality.

I am so glad the P-3 Orions are being replaced by a Boeing product, HOOOOHA!! While Boeing is doing this could they also take all the servicable P-3s and retro fit them for wildland fire abilities. With such a serious storage of aircraft for wildland firefighting if Boeing did the retor fit they could be palced into serve a more efficient rate and be able to protect more homes and forest.

I just replaced my propane furnace with a heat pump so my check will help pay for that. So, happily, my stimulus check will be used to reduce my family's reliance on the petroleum industry!

Hang in there folks, This too shall pass.

This 'rebate' is the mother-of-all tax "doggy bags." I'm an unemployed senior on a fixed (barely!) income, and I'm getting $300. Maybe that will cover the cost of gas trying to find something NOT made in china!! As we "simulate" (sic) the economy, try to buy stuff made in America.

it's meaningless for me, since i don't have a job in the past year. i don't get the rebate even i paid taxes on time from 2003 to 2007.
but what a $300 rebate can do nowadays?
Prices for eggs increased 30%, milk 20%, vege 15%, gas SKY-ROCK!!!
$300 even not enough to buy air-ticket from Seattle to Chicago round-trip~ which means i can't visit my parents and my brother.
(Thank you! Bush, I can't survive without this $300, HAHAHAAAA...)

I think I am part of that 2% that is going to 'blow' this check. I'm buying a rack and cargo box for my wife's crossover. Ironically, this will save more of my money as I won't be giving it to hotels when I go on vacation now. This may be the only time I ever say this (and it pains me to have to but): "Thank you George Dubya".
I am going to spend my rebate check on whatever SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) says I'm going to spend my rebate check on.
