Seven MVPs and 31 All-Stars have been linked to illegal use of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs in a report issued by former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell. One of the biggest names on the list is pitcher Roger Clemens, who vehemently denies the allegations through his lawyer. Also on the list 12 former Mariners, including pitcher Ryan Franklin. Franklin was suspended for 10 games in 2005 for steroids.

Do you consider players who use performance enhancing drugs cheaters?

yes, berry bonds for example is just another player , when you take an enhancement drug. It's toooo bad that any one in sports feels its needed to take a drug to be something more than they are. a big crack down is needed to make it all a even playing feild, not to mention the the kids that admrire them.

Steroid use is absolutely cheating, but beyond that, it is use of a substance that is controlled and illegal. It is no different than using cocaine or heroin. Players found to be using currently should be banned and prosecuted. I would be.
While I love Jay Buhner and respect him, I have to disagree with him. This is not history until Barry Bonds' records have been wiped from the books.
Geeze! Pete Rose gets erased from baseball for gambling and these guys are using drugs and lying to Congress and Federal Courts!
What does that tell our children? It's wrong to gamble, but alright to cheat, lie and do drugs?
Way to go Bud .... good job!

The chemical engineers of professional sports will continue to find ways to enhance their obvious dwindling athletic abilities. All this does for me is continue to enhance my opinion of the great athletes like; Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Bobbie Doerr, Ted Williams, Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snyder, Reggie Jackson, Nolan Ryan, Sandy Koufax,
Feller, Ali, Lemon, Roberts, Unitas and the list goes on and on. Look them up in the book and you will not find an asterik. They are giants and they will become even bigger giants as time goes on.

This is one of the major reasons why televised professional sports was banned in my home while my children were growing up. I did not want my children to idolize what amounts to nothing but whining, spoiled millionaires. So they can run or hit a ball. Big whoop. I admire someone who can give a face back to a burn victim or help someone to walk again after an accident a whole lot more. I think that professional athletics are the modern equivalent to the Roman Circus, a way to keep the ignorant too occupied to realize that their government is spending their tax money for luxuries while the populace comes closer and closer to starvation.

If I had my way, there would be no professional sports. Plus the only sports in schools would be in the physical education classes and no importance put to them. It is long past time we started glorifying intelligence rather than physical ability, because intelligence is what is important to employers today. Not everyone can play sports, but just about everyone can learn to be a productive member of society.
