Do you feel the Patriot Act is unconstitutional, or do you think it should stay in place to help investigate terrorism?

Government should be dedicated to upholding the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, rather than trying to find ways to undermine and weaken those rights. Scrap the USA Patriot Act and enforce Constitutional rights.

The Patriot Act was a joke from the outset. What began as as supposedly great intention, ended up very specifically as a way to deny human rights to individual citizens. No other legislation since the bill of rights was enacted has ever sent us so far backward...

Absolutely its unconstitutional! Mean well laws hurt everyone not just those they hope to target. Many people think they are helping by keeping quiet when the goverment shows a piece of paper and calls it secret for the national defense. US Citizens should not give up our rights. Remember the Stalin - Hitler and other Hero's of the People and the New Order????

I have believed it was unconstitutional from the beginning. I would wish to see it dissolved.

As a citizen in a FREE country, I recognize and appreciate our right to privacy. However, I also appreciate my RESPONSIBILITY to help protect those freedoms we all cherish. I have studied the threats that have raged against us for decades prior to 9/11 and our carefree attitude left us unveiled for the determined terrorist. This world is different than the 1950's. Our human rights are not denied. THE PATRIOT ACT MUST HAVE FLEXIBILITY TO KEEP CHECK ON THREATS TO US ALL. I have nothing to hide.

The Patriot Act is anything but. It is unconstitutional, an assault on the very core of what makes our nation great and a shackle upon the American people. To quote Patrick Henry: "Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?"

The Patriot Act is just another way for the Bush administration to create a dictatorship. The taking away of our constitutional rights is only the beginning if we sit back and allow it to continue.

I have forgotten who said it, but this has never been more true. "Those who trade freedom for safety deserve neither." Another quote, again I've forgotten who said it: "A dictatorship is a dictatorship whether there is one dictator or many." The Patriot Act is just one step in many designed to take away our Constitutional Rights so that those in power can do whatever they please. When you consider all the 'for your own good' laws that prohibit so many things that were never illegal before, the 'land of the free' has become a not very funny joke. If we don't wake up and do something we will find ourselves in a country that closely resembles Communist Russia of the Cold War. At this point I am FAR more afraid of my own government than any shadowy terrorists. Terrorists can only harm a few--our current government has and will continue to harm many both at home and abroad while those in power and their friends continue to rape not only this country, but other countries as well. We need to quit burying our heads in the sand and realize that we are losing something very precious in the illusion of being protected against something that is actually the lesser danger.

I can't even believe the "patriot" act exists. It makes me sick and it's really hard to respect law enforcement now.

I know someone locally that found out she was on the terrorist watch list when she tried to cross the border into BC.. Coincidentally she is an political activist involved in exposing the crimes of the Bush/Cheney regime.. Thats the unconstitutional Patriot act in action..:-(( In fact the first use of the patriot act provisions was to bust a call girl ring in New Orleans.. Give government too much power and they will abuse it.. its a no-brainer.. The protections given us under the constituion are there to protect us from an overly intrusive government.

Apparently the neocon fascist gov't we currently have is unfamiliar with Thomas Jeffersons statement..

"Dissent is the highest form of patriotism."

OR Teddy Roosevelt:

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." President 'Teddy' Roosevelt

Instead we get double speak from our current abomination of a president.

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace." George W. Bush :(((

That indiocy only makes sense in Bushworld where supporting the troops translates into ABUSING THE TROOPS :-(((
