Administrators at Seattle's Washington Middle School suspended 17 students for drinking stolen juice. Do you think that this punishment fits? Or does it go too far?

this story is not worthy of TV news when there is so much going on in the world. how did this even make it to broadcast?

There are by far more important issues that need our attention than taking juice out of a school closet. We are not talking about alcohol or drugs, we are talking about fruit juice!?! An essay on the subject would have been more justified than suspension.

My first question would be, was there enough proof that ALL these students stole this juice? Aren't we in America supposedly innocent until proven guilty? I think that suspension is a harsh punishment for this "CRIME", what about community service? I think the school administration needs to investigate this further before the punishment is set in stone.

I saw the clip and they are members of a protected race, so let them go.

Hasn't America's protected races suffered enough without this kind of punishment? Expect a visit from Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson over this outrage.

If they want juice, they don't need to buy it or even ask for it.

Its only a week, maybe these kids should pick better friends. If there parents are not going to teach them this then somebody else will need to. It was theft plane and simple.

I think this is too harsh. I don't believe that the people who drank the juice knew it was stolen. Even if they did 6 days is way too long. Let's worry about the students that are failing in school or keeping our children protected from drugs and guns. I can seeing suspending the students that stole the juice but still even then I think 6 days is too much.

We, as a society, must set bounderies on unacceptable behavior. The students envolved must suffer consequences for their actions. Although many of the students denied that they knew nothing of the stolen juices, let's be real here. The reality is that they probably did know what they were doing and peer pressure made the decision for them. I do think that their punishment was proper. The students could have face possible juvinile detention.

If they had shoplifted the juice from a store, the punishment would be more severe. They should consider themselves lucky that it was only 6 days of suspension. And we need to get over this racial profiling.

I do not think that drinking juice, even if it is stolen, should keep students away from their education. The school system should focus on educating students as to why stealing is wrong instead of keeping them away from the classroom at the drop of a hat. How many people can claim they didn’t do something they regretted later when they were in middle school? Suspension should only be used as a last resort for students who are disrupting the classroom, not for someone who has made a minor mistake. Make them earn the money to pay the school back for the juice, and keep our kids in the classroom!

No, we don't! If we got over racial profiling, these kids would be treated like everyone else and that is not right.

These kids have suffered under the yoke of slavery for hundreds of years. Their ancestors starved to death in the South, while picking the White Man's crops!

Those kids deserve free juice. If you won't give it to them, they have every right to take it. They deserve it.

I already emailed Sharpton and Jackson about this. If these kids get their lives ruined over juice, they should be awarded millions of dollars from the school board.

I feel that community service is more appropriate than six days out of school. Also the students who stole the juice need more discipline than the others who only took a drink or two. We need to keep out students in school as much as we can. Having them run loose for 1-12 days does not make sense.

The Seatte School District is in enough hot water over the millions that Ochefski (sp) stole and nobody did anything about it. We need people in place with common sense, and suspending students for something so trifling as taking juice shows gross misjudgment. There had to be a better, more intelligent way to deal with this issue. The people involved in the e-gate mess at the Port of Seattle didn't get that harsh of a penalty. We don't need Al Sharpton or Mr. Jackson to deal with this. We can organize and bring this to a head ourselves. Call it racial profiling or what ever you please, but some of these old white leaders who don't know how to deal with Black children need to go. Plain and simple.

are we not as a society coddeling our youth, we are not making our children responsible for their actions, if missing school for awhild is too harsh, then let them spend 24 hours in jail. Then they would know what it is like to be a real criminal or gangsta.
It does not matter what color they are. white black or brown no difference. Aren't you people tired of playing the race card. Lovable Al Sharpton jumped on the band wagon to castrate and chastise the Duke lacrosse players for raping the poor black stripper. He was on t.v and radio whining about the poor black lady. wow, the players are innocent and the black stripper is a liar who had sex with multiple males before showing up to the party. And blessed Jessie Jackson our favorite minister has had children out of wedlock. How holy are these black leaders. Think it is time for a new spokesman - nobody outside of a small black community or the left wing media will listen to them. And if you come to my house to steal, you will be shot. Justice is served for missing a few days of school. if you don't like it, then wahhhhhh
grow up
