I was a little surprised just how quickly it seemed that the price hike appeared...but then again, they have been preaching the "forever stamp".

No, I was not caught off guard; there was quite a bit of warning about this.
I think it's great! We have the best and (as far as I know from traveling/living in several countries) cheapest, most reliable service in the world.
I am tired of people complaining of paying for services. Our country has a LOW tax rate, so services have become shoddy. We should all be happy to pay taxes and then expect service for the payment. As it is, I hear whining, and closing of parks/streets/ whatever, but nobody stepping up and saying we need to pay more and get more service.

Is there ever an end to the rate increase? Old Ben would be outraged that his idea is being forced to make people use the internet more. No more mass invites such as birthday parties now it's going to be computers and word of mouth. One last word of advice....DON'T BUY THE COSTCO STAMPS OR YOU'LL BE SORRY BY THE NEXT INCREASE TOO!

I was actually caught off guard by the increase, As a college student I find it difficult staying current with what is happening in the news when you don't have the money to buy the newspaper or your too busy with school work to watch TV. However, I do believe that it is my responsibility to stay informed, I just feel it came without warning (or maybe I missed the warning). It was just frustrated because I was right in the middle of mailing my application to transfer to a different university, with a deadline looming I was afraid that the application wouldn't get there in time or that it would be mailed back to me. Its also annoying when you just bought perfectly good stamps in February that you can't really use. I was frustrated at the time, but really, they're just stamps, could be worse.
