NBC and other media outlets have aired video of Cho Seung-Hui brandishing weapons and confessing to the Virginia Tech massacre. Do you think NBC was right in releasing this video?

they at least should have waited for some time after the funerals.

Last week, MSNBC fired Don Imus for being a jerk. A few days later, MSNBC felt it was necessary to get a better jerk - and provided Seung-Hui Cho with the voice of their network, round the clock coverage, and online distribution of his videos, photos and manifesto. If Don Imus was an idiot (he is and was), should the same judgement apply to Seung-Hui Cho? NBC seems to be the no brains channel.

NO! I do not feel that NBC should have allowed this video to be showen I feel that by allowing Seung-hui Cho to recieve so much attention for so long is awful !... Children thrive on attention, especially if there are issues in their lives.

Many newsprograms and broadcasting companies broadcast highly inappropriate material under the reason they have the right of journalism. I do think that NBC gave the guy a platform to speak out of his grave and will most likely create copycat. We saw complete outrage over the 0.25 second nipple piercing shot during the Superbowl, but daily we broadcast what would years ago be called snuff videos .. people being blown to pieces .. shot or killed on live TV .. for what ? Is anyone really eager to see someone being blown up. TV stations have moral responsibility NOT to show certain material. The fact that NBC now whines that other TV stations broadcasted it as well doesn't matter .. be better then that .. out of respect you should not do these kinda things.

WE SHOULD FOCUS ON THE VICTEMS INSTEAD OF THE PERPETRATOR. AND THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE RELEASED THE VIDEO. THIS STATION SHOULD TAKE THE VIDEO OFF AS WELL.

I don't think it's a good idea to keep giving the whole situation so much attention. Yes, it was a tragedy. Yes, there are some lessons that can be learned from it. But there are other tragedies happening. And spending so much time on it is more likly to make others think, 'Look how much attention I could get if I did the same thing'. Relay the news, discuss how the problem can be improved, work towards improving it, and then move on. But don't go on and on and on and on and... well you know.

I don't feel it should be as played out as it has. It's hard to keep kids from watching and still try to get the news. I can't even seem to read it without my kids wondering what the fuss is all about. As a mom of very young one's...I don't want them to feel scared about the world as it is a good place overall. Airing Bush and the war is bad enough. Why should we glorify a mass killing by obeying his wishes through the media. Very poor taste NBC though I also support our constitutional rights. This could have been handled a different way for sure to satisfy the masses. If my kid were the victim, I'd seek monetary damages from the network!

NO, IT MAKES NO SENSE TO KEEP SHOWING THIS, NOW WE HAVE A COUNTRY FULL OF COPY CATS, I LIVE IN A SMALL COMMUNITY AND ALREADY THE HIGH SCHOOL HAS SENT THEIR STUDENTS HOME BECAUSE OF A THREATENED SHOOTING, THE LOCAL COLLEGE HAS CLOSED BECAUSED OF A THREATENED SHOOTING, THE COLLEGE STUDENT HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND FOUND TO HAVE AMMO ON HIS PERSON, IT MAKES NO SENSE, TO SHOW THIS CHO GUY, IF FACT WHEN I SEE HIS FACE I CHANGE CHANNELS.

Last week NBC called Imus a jerk for what he apperantly said and they couldn't say it on TV, but this idiocy CAN be broadcasted for the sake of constitutional rights ?

You gotta be kidding me ...

In other news .. the Presidents Chief of Staff refused to testify about the leaks in the Whitehouse, but was more then happy to be interviewed on the Daily Show. How long can THAT go on without public outcry?

It was gross negligence on the part of the network. If I were them I would feel ashamed for further adding to the shock and grief the families are going through. They better hope to God there isn't a copycat. If so, I hope they feel at least some responsibility. Ironic isn't it? What the greedy rating hungry hoped to accomplish seems to have had the oposite effect they were after. SHAME on them.

The people at NBC did only what other media members would have done had they received the information NBC did.....only they used tact that I think a lot of other outlets don't have....why couldn't NBC be the only one who said anything...they were the only ones who had the first hand account...and the fact that it became as wide spread as it did, that fault lies with all the other news stations who were reporting third and fourth hand information........no this is not to bolster the news people I think they all lack a sensitivity genome...but why call one wrong and not all the others.........
