Scantily-clad PETA "Fashion Police" have been handing out fake citations to anyone wearing fur, leather and wool.
Is PETA taking it too far?

Peta often takes things too far. Fake citations may be one of their less offensive actions, depending on what the citations actually say. I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals, but peta often forgets the ethical treatment of humans in their methods of 'spreading the word'.

No. PETA is not taking it too far. People no longer need to wear fur and leather. They were great for Cavemen, that's all they had. We have plenty of man made and cotton fibers to to keep us covered and warm.

I do NOT have a problem with wearing animal skins, furs, leather, etc. God Himself made man's very first clothing from animal skins! Genisis 3:21

Its not even taking it far enough as far as im concerned. These animals were put on this land long before our time .Its time to SAVE the animals NO MORE HARM NEEDS TO BE DONE TO THEM!!! They were not put on this land for us to kill for their fur or skin .Most people that kill animals end up killing humans later in life. If you look at the studies of killers in prison MOST of them killed animals for fun before killing a human. These animals do NOT deserve to be killed for their fur or skin "as far as im concerned Not even for their meat, and no I dont eat meat" take care and have a nice day Lori

Comments posted by Lori are prime example of the type of people running PETA. When you spout of ill-informed nonsense you do not help your cause "Most people who kill animals end up killing humans" you cannot possibly believe that. Why we as humans tend to see ourselves as above and beyond the cycle of nature I will never understand. We are not. We are the highest predator on the food chain accept it. Besides if you dont agree with wearing fur fine dont wear it. Simple as that. PETA's extremist actions lost them any credibility and thereby any chance to prevent actual animal cruelety years ago.

What's the harm in using the skins of the animals already killed for food? Is that not more respectful to those cows and pigs we eat? What's wrong with using sheeps wool? or angora hair? The animals arent even harmed.
Plus, an example: leather boots last much longer than fake plastic ones, often 10+ years compared to a year or less on the pleather variety, AND the leather will biodegrade where as the plastics will not.
Do we want to save all animals or eat well, stay warm and save the ecosystem by avoiding use of plastics and other synthetics? I vote for eating well, staying warm, and saving our land fills for biodegradable items.

now, now, pita pockets are good.......at least....but there is a real crime aginst nature when people are using endagered spiecies to cover up the fact that they are complete droolers....a fox stole isn't going to change the fact that your not interesting.....not to mention the old addage that fur looks better on the animal it belongs to.......but leather and wool are what the good lord (or mother nature)provided...us using it has been around longer than the dipsticks protesting it have been....and Im gonna stick to what works...naturally.

I'm a vegetarian, but PETA's shock tactics aren't helping to reduce animal cruelty. PETA makes it look like vegetarians & animal supporters are a bunch of wackos.
We just need to get the facts out that vegetarians live longer, healthier lives & that world hunger and lack of clean drinking water can be solved if more of us became vegetarians.
PETA is not helping to get these facts out, they are turning people off and making it harder for everyday folks to find out the facts.

i spent a great deal of time working on issues like preserving old growth forests clean air and water but finally gave up because every time you mention environment, people dont think of teddy roosevelt creating our national parks or jaques costeau they think of some PETA or ELF nut throwing blood or burning a log truck.
they undermine thier own cause. i see a leather store in portland just went out of business. well now maybe PETA can go to one of those organic food stores that sell happy cow and chicken meat. not all enviros are vegans so they only eat free roaming happy animals or at least they were happy til thier guts hit the floor.
people like PETA and ELF in my opinion are more into causing problems than solving them.

Most people eat meat. That meat comes from animals. Those animals have skins. To feed all of the meat eaters in the world takes an enormass number of animals every day. Since we are going to eat the meat anyway, why not use the very, very large pile of skins created rather than just burn them or bury them? What is the problem? Also, the makeing of wool blankets, clothing and all of the other wool stuff, does not kill the animal. It just gives it a haircut. Just like taking your poodle to a groomer.

It seems in todays "information age", people have forgot the natural instinct to hunt, fish and farm. And we wonder what is wrong with the world today. Handing out fake citations is fairly mild, fully clothed or not. In anything, the message is lost when the actions to deliver it are improper.
I would like to see how many people in the PETA group could survive in the wild. There has to be a completely different mind frame when we can't just go to our local store to pick up our veggie burgers.

sometimes activists actually do have legitimate gripes about things but peta has lost all of its credibility.
