Does Britain's pullout from Iraq have anything to do with the Prince in-line to be sent to Iraq's frontlines?

The British are at least reducing their role in Iraq, as we (the U.S.) should. Here's a letter I recently sent to Congressman John Murtha, as well as to all of the Wa. State Congressional Delegation. It's time for a new direction and a reduction in U.S. invlovement in Iraq, as far as I am concerned.

To: Congressman John Murtha
Subj. Bringing The Troops Home
Date: Feb. 18, 2007

Dear Sir,

I am a U.S. Army Veteran (Vietnam Era) and a father of a soldier in the 1st Cav. Divison
presently deployed in Baghdad, Iraq. I'm writing to you to encourage you in further attempt to bring our troops home, including my 20 yr. old son. I hope you are successful along with your colleagues in Congress to acheive some semblance
of withdrawl of our forces from Iraq, thereby increasing the Iraq government's role and its
forces to take more control of the present situation, especially the sect violence.

My son tells me the morale is way down in the U.S. Army over there, primarily due to
extended tours, rumors of the possibility of NO leave, as well as the sense of "No Defined
Mission" the past few years with status quo. Not to mention, all the bombs (IED) that
they constantly look for resulting in the possiblity of getting their own "ass" blown up,
and for what? It's time to bring the majority of U.S. troops home in my opinion.

My son also tells me that he and other troops are stretched to the limits: he himself is
only able to get 1 meal per day, plus getting only 1-3 hours of sleep per 24 hour period,
due to other duties after being on patrol or in convoy for hours on end. It's appalling to
me that this can be happening in today's U.S. Army, whereby the troops themselves are
indeed being placed in further peril both mentally and physically because of lack of sleep
and the lack of normal nutrition, even during the said war which I believe is about the worst
U.S. "current administration blunder" since Vietnam.

As a concerned parent of an all American kid who volunteered to serve his country
(without receiving any signing bonus) we are proud of him for serving his country
in the Armed Forces, but it's time to bring him and the other troops home, so please
continue to help change the course of this escalating war by the current Bush administration.

Thank you,
Sincerely,

Ken James McLeod

With the addition of U.S. troops to Iraq, the redeployment of British forces seems more likely about seeing a good opportunity to withdraw without the impression of leaving us hanging over there. Or maybe PM Blair finally started listening to his citizenry as a democracy should.

Bring the troops home NOW. This is a civil war. The U.S. broke Iraq and you don't ask the bull in the china shop to fix it.

Iraq wants us GONE. Over 650,000 civilians have been killed.

Huh ? Its not really like he is the next in line to become King of England. Unlike the current US President, the British Royal Family actually performs their military duty actively on the battlefields if there is a war if they are enlisted. Its not just the British that are pulling their troops out, so are the Danish, Korean and the Lithuanians. Already gone are the Spanish and the Italian whose leaders were booted out of office by voters unhappy with their war alliances with Bush. Now there is still plenty of support for the war in Afganistan however which is actually probably a good thing.

My son spent nearly a year in Al Anbar with Army Intelligence, talking with insurgents every day. Nearly to a man, they told him that if we put forward a timeline for withdrawal and stick to it, the insurgency would dissolve. The civil war is something beyond our power to control, and there's nothing for us to win in Iraq. The possibility of controlling the oil supply, which is the real reason we're there, is even looking increasingly remote. Al Qaeda leaders have said that the longer the US stays in Iraq, the better it is for Al Qaeda. Put this all together, and the only sensible course is a speedy and orderly withdrawal of ALL of our troops from Iraq.

This is an illegal and immoral war. I believe we need to get the troops home and help Iraq fix what we have destroyed. I believe Bush and Cheney should be tried for war crimes and impeached.

Thank you for asking.
Blessed be the peacemakers. Remember loving your enemies strongly implies not killing them.

Nothing Bush can do is going to "improve" things in Iraq. We screwed things up; Iraq is now in the middle of a civil war, continuing conflicts that have gone on for centuries. We're not going to stop that. One of my sons spent a year in Iraq and the tales of the US's financial waste and irresponsibility (not even touching on the war stories) were just phenomenal.

We need to get out of there, NOW, and let them fix their own problems. They're the only ones who can do it, and they've stated many times that they DON'T WANT US THERE.

Dominique Coulet du Gard said:

We in the US and anywhere outside of Iraq need to be saying the Battle for Iraq is for the Iraqi people. Let them truely decide, not US Puppets. For that matter the US voters should decide. In fact, we have decided. Less than 29% of the US population supports this insane war for oil. Can your NWCN Blog please send this message to our Congressmen and to our administration, please? They do not seem to be listening to the people who put them in office.

The liberation of Iraq and bringing freedom to the millions of enslaved and tortured people there has gone much better than could be expected.

These poor people have been abused by tyrants for centuries - There is no more noble task than for our great country to continue helping these poor people gain their freedom.

Thank God for the United States, our fantastic milirary and our courageous Commander in Chief!
