Do you think this recent wind storm was worse than the 1993 Inaugural Day wind storm?

No, I wouldn't say it was worse...but it was certainly as bad!

Yes it was worse, not in duration, but the amount of damage. I didn't have any trees that hit my house in that storm....I had FOUR come through my house with this one!!!!

No, I was without power for only 12 hours yesterday. I did not have to chainsaw my way out of my driveway. In 93, I was without power for 4 days and had to cut my way out. A big thank you to Peninsula Light Co.

Ya it was bad but not as bad as it could have been.
If the power companies would put the power lines under ground as it required in new construction it would not be as bad with power outages and a lot eaisier to manage. Thanks to the hard working compainies in restoreing the power.

It was not the worst by far. I remember very vividly the Columbus Day storm in 1962. It was really terrible.

Anyone who thinks this storm the worst wasn't around for the Columbus Day storm. Our family with 4 young children hovered in a corner with a mattress hoping the windows would not blow out watching them bow in and out with the gusts and waiting for Dad to get in off the river where he worked. He told of driving down the main street with store front window glass blowing across the street as his crew tried to get home to their families. This was in Longview, Wa.

I think it was worse for some and not as bad for others. It seemed to hit different regions differently than the 93 storm did. For us, up in Granite Falls, it was bad, but not as bad as it could have been. We were thankful for the two feet of snow a few weeks earlier, that knocked out power off and on for near 3 days and took down many of our trees. If it were not for that bad storm, we would likely have had more damage during the wind storm, and with so many more people without power during the wind storm, we also would have been likely left without for more than our 15 hours we actually had.
I feel for all those poor families even still without power. Its cold. Not everyone has a fire place or good alternate source of heat. People are getting sick from using poor means for heat with carbon monoxide poisoning. Lets just get power back to everyone asap, and hope the weather mellows out for a few. First flooding, then 2 feet of snow and downed trees keeping us from getting out of our driveway for days, and now this windstorm. I'm ready for some normal weather for a few months.

As a meteorology major (22yrs old) I know the Columbus Day Storm was by far the worst the region has ever experienced. But, I do think (and the damage estimates and death toll probably confirm this) that this was probably the second worst in memory. Living in Seattle and seeing so many trees down and cars crushed, not to mentioned what's happened around the region, this was the worst windstorm i've ever personally experienced...people i met on the street while surveying damage to mention (including many who have been here since the 60s but post-Columbus Day) said the same thing. This was a really bad storm overall.

I don't know about the worst, I've only lived in the Seattle area for about 6 1/2 years, but if I could, I'd go live somewhere flat, with fewer trees. We have over a dozen very tall trees around our house, and it's very frightening to have the wind blowing like that. Several trees fell on surrounding homes.. Even though our house escaped much damage, my heart breaks for those who lost their lives and for those who are suffering. I wish I could do more to help. My prayers are with you all.

I was here at Tulalip during the Columbus Day storm. It blew a huge tree down across the street from where I now live. However, during that time we did not stay without power, tv, telephone service for many days as happened recently...we were out of service for 3 days..so it was a bad storm. I personally call it the Darkover Storm.
