What should happen to those 20,000 absentee ballots still uncounted in King County, WA following last Tuesday's election?

Citizens vote with the intention
'Their vote will count: and Be counted'.
The votes should be counted.

They must be counted.
They were in the hands of an official on the day of the election.
After the problems of the last few years why was there no official plan in effect. Hmmm Maybe it was because the Head Official was on vacation?
Is it once again why vote it won't count?

those ballots should be counted. why should those voters not have their say because they weren't packaged properly? that's not their fault and why were they stuffed so full to begin with? it makes one wonder who was behind the 20,000 votes from king county that won't be (so conveniently) counted.

Clark Griffin said:

If these ballots are leagal, they should be counted. People have the right to vote, and we all remember what happened in 2004. They went to the trouble to choose the things that are important to them, count them.

To the King County Elections Board;
As a good American, I can not get over the fact that your lack of preparedness can cause my vote and my partners vote to not be counted.
Are your ballot boxes in question? Are your workers in question? OH YEA BABY! My partner placed both my ballot and hers into the ballot box. Not one person had a question as to why she was inputting TWO ballots. Was it Republicans running that church in Ballard?
What to do with my vote, my vote placed in YOUR ballot box. Count them ALL or we will put together a grass root campaign and file a class action law suit and have our votes counted then. This is Washington State NOT FLORIDA!
Pull your selves together and do your jobs or stop pulling a pay check from the citizens of Washington State. We expect fairness and impartiality in our election board.

The state of Washington should not be disgraced by having even one vote improperly processed. There is no question here--the 20,000 absentee ballots should be counted as quickly as possible!

These Votes are non-contested Votes.
Hand delivered by Registered Voters.
Properly filed with confidence in the voteing system.
These Votes are individualy sealed.
Not counting these Votes, the message being sent to These valued members of our society by not counting these, Their Votes is that these folks and their DUE RIGHT AND OBLIGATION TO HAVE A VOICE THAT MATTERS IN OUR DEMICRATIC PROCCESS DOES NOT MATTER, THAT THESE PEOPLE DO NOT MATTER.
THIS IS DISGRACFUL.

the question is that it is time to scrap the present Election Board and get an HONEST AND TRUST WORTHEY ELECTION BOARD.

Pat Beasley said:

All votes should be counted!
They want everyone to come out and vote. Well what kind of message are they sending to the people if all votes are not going to be counted.
Why bother to even register.
It is wrong very very wrong..............that is not the American way.......

All the votes should be counted. My guess would be that those people dropped off their ballots, instead of mailing them, to insure they would be counted right away. Those voters should have their voice heard, their ballots counted, not stuffed in a bag on a shelf. My hope is that NO candidate in a close race will concede before those votes are counted.

Gretchen in Issaquah said:

Those votes must be counted. In a race as close as this one there is simply no excuse for tossing out 20,000 votes. The voters who dropped their ballots at the polling places did so in confidence that their vote would indeed be counted like all the others. If this error had occurred with non-absentee votes would we be sitting by watching it happen?

All the votes should be counted.

I think it would be against the law of our country not to count them. They were delivered to the Polling place on election day and should be regarded as a regular ballot. Why would anyone even think about not counting them? Did I waste 22years in the military just for things like this?

This is a no brainer, everyone has a right to vote and to have their vote matter. We are all told that our vote counts but apparently there are some that feel all votes count but these last 20,000.. Again those that were hired by our state to do a job failed... those counting should not be paid until the job is done... halfway is not acceptable the next thing the media will have them doing is just count those votes that are for the candidate the media wants to win.... dont count the others... they should already have just counted them without any mention of who is the winner until each vote is included and accounted for. No concessions, no media leaks, no instant gratification.. just let the process go to its natural end... Would have thought this was the intention of voting ...to hear the voices, all the voices of ...ALL the PEOPLE .... There is a document in our history that says it best... "WE THE PEOPLE" .... and it should end with DEMAND OUR VOTES BE COUNTED ....

COUNT THE VOTES! WE All have the right to have our voice heard .

Every last vote in every election should be counted. That's the promise made to every voter

For years my husband and I have been voting by absentee vote and have dropped them off at a POLLING PLACE in order for our vote to be counted in a timely manner. At no time have we ever been told that our vote may not be counted due to ANY situation, or we would have driven the ballots to the post office and stood in line to have them hand stamped for that day of the election. We put a lot of thought and discussion into our votes and the idea that our efforts to work within the system would even remotely result in an uncounted vote is absolutely appalling to us! I too would consider a law suit against the state for this ridiculous situation. COUNT THOSE VOTES!!

Heck yeah they should be counted and I voted Republican. It is only fair!

It is a shame that these election board people are even spending a single second thinking about possibly not counting them. Your salary is paid from the taxes of those people who voted and these people expect you to do your duty well. Count the friggin' votes and once you're done .. get the heck out of town before we tar and feather you.

yeoldgrump said:

Oh no, don't count the votes. There might be a possibility that the declared winners are not the winners of the election, after all. That might upset the balance of power in Congress, State and local government.
Of course, if you want the true vote, count all the ballots.

I agree . . . IF the votes have been handled CORRECTLY, that is NEVER left unsecured, etc they should be counted. One of the comments said "in a race as close as this one". Where did that come from? Which race is this person referring to? You see, the concern of many, is that the left leaning King County will be able to "generate" votes, it's happened before, as I said SECURE, that means NO TAMPERING. I also agree, how do we go about completely discharhing our elections personnel and start over. If Millions can vote in Bahgdad and be heard why can't we?

Ho what the hick- asked the guy that cleans up the place!

He might know something-But, Hey!-there only Democrats votes, they don't mean very much any ways.

Count them. It is the law.

gabe said:

Depending on the status of the absentee ballots, they will be counted.
If King County has their way, they will disregard conservative and military voters.
But, if those ballots, were generated locally,They'll probably be counted.
