I feel this should not be posted on public property. Should you allow this than all other factions or beliefs should be allowed as well. This action would cause unwanted issues and problems. Keep religious concepts in the private sector and private property only.

Which version? Jews, Catholics and Protestants all number them differently. And Deuteronomy has different wording from Exodus. Which version should the state endorse?

We used to be a Country with Freedom of Speech. Now we have to be "Politically Correct", religion "Neutral", etc., etc. We have to change what we call different heritage factions because some keep changing what they want to be called! Our whole country was based on the different beliefs, with God as the Supreme Being.
Do we have to change all of our Government Buildings, our money, our daily lives, our language for others that are not coming to this country to blend in, but to change to their personal wants, while taking as much money as we are willing to shell out to help them "blend" in to our way of FREEDOM. If non-believers don't like it, don't look at it! The majority of us believe. Why does the majority have to be penalized?

Yes, by all means it should be displayed on public property. I really don't see what the big deal is. Why is it so "wrong" to have 10 simple rules to live by to live life honestly? Oh yeah...I guess it's that whole separation of church and state thing! Well the last time I saw the 10 commandments in a public place, I didn't see them preaching any deep theological sermons. I find it humorous to say the least when people use the very letter of the constitution to promote their agenda, yet when there comes a time when they can't get their way, the constitution is somehow flawed!

I always thought the same about god botherers and the bible. It's amazing how simple declarative statements become incredibly abstract when the "believers" don't like it. (c.f. Matthew 19:24)

If people focused as much energy on real problems this world would be a much better place. I am not apposed to a list of good things for society to live by in any religion.

No, the ten commandments should not be posted on public property. We should not, and do not, have a state religion in this country.

Yes they should! The ten commandments is basically what this country was founded on.

The question is whether recognitions of all religions would be equally allowed and accepted. Would supporters of the Ten Commandments also support Wiccan wisdom and pentagrams? If not, they are only supporting free exercise of their religion and are hypocritically abusing the First Amendment.

no, everyone of the arguements try to say they are inclusive of all religions. but, the whole idea is devisive in America where all types of religions exist. This is an underhanded method to try and place these items out. why not place them on their church property or other places where other persons will REALLY be respected.

Only some of the commandments are the government's business -- not murdering or bearing false witness, for instance. On the other hand, it's inappropriate for the state to suggest I keep a sabbath. And if I want to have graven images in my home, it's nobody else's affair. Finally, why do people want to enshrine the view that women are equal to property, as the final commandments imply? Jesus said love fulfilled ALL the commandments, so these relics are actually irrelevant.

Absolutely, we should have the ten commandments on public property at all times. The country can surely use it. Those who don't want to see it sure don't have to look at it.

I believe the Ten Commandments belong in public places to remind people how we should be living with each other and the world. It is basis for our countries laws and need to be remembered.

Yes, the 10 Commandments should be allowed on public proterty. It is discrimination if they don't allow our Country to continue the standards with which it was established. If people don't like them, they don't have to read them. As we remove God from schools, etc, violence increases.

oh, my lord don't we have enough to worry about. this should be the least of our worries, with all the tragedies of this earth, such as this world has never seen before. you'd think we would get on our knees every day to think god for allowing us to live one more day with our puny selves. GOD HELP US

Funny how people get so excited when anything that could even remotely be asociated with the Bible comes up! I'm waiting for a ban on sandals and fishing!
Several posts before mine made the very good point that regardless of faith, the Ten Commandments are one heck of a good start to leading a decent life.
I suppose there will be those who take even THAT statement as some kind of 'order" from on high, to once again tell them how to live!

Furthermore, I believe behind your mask of legalism, you simply hate Christains and Jews.
When I wanna say something, I need to say it strongly. Also this is what I think and if you don't like what you read, then I suggest you move to another page. If you don't like my idea it is bad for you, not for me. I just love what I thinkit is real. Part of me is really afraid and worries about money spent on it but by the other way couldn't care less. Unfortunately, my boyfriend is not the same. Please, send positive energy, dance around a fire what ever to send the positive energy this way and keep life this way. I have the echo in my hears blattering about ringtone ringing in my head, and how says he's going to hate another insignificant evening. Unfortunately, it was also true. Michelle and I were going through a short-lived period of getting along fine when he asked an inoffensive enough question. Fair enough.
Bye Bye
